Interview of Jorge Mowinckel, volunteer at Red Deporte

We have shared one year now with Jorge, working as a volunteer for our organization. It has been a great satisfaction for us, leaving a very positive impact amongst us. We would like to share this short interview with Jorge with all our friends of Red Deporte.

How did you hear about us?

I am registered on the "sportandev.org" website, a global sport and development platform. When looking if there was a Spanish organization, I found RDC, and without any hesitation I got in touch with them.

What did you like the most about your internship at RDC?

The diversity and large number of projects which we were involved in. From issues regarding cooperation in Africa, to racism and discrimination in Spanish football, through to social reintegration or sport for the disabled.

What did you expect and what has been accomplished?

I expected to see first hand how a sport and development NGO works. RDC are global pioneers in this discipline, so they have great experience. I have been part of a very competent and multidisciplinary team, which has permitted all of us to learn from each other.

What did you think of the working environment, the organization?

What I liked the most is the multicultural working environment of those who have been part of the organization during these months. During my stay at RDC there have been colleagues from Japan, Bulgaria and the UK, to name a few.

What do you remember most especially?

Being part of the organization in the FARE conference against racism and discrimination in football was very inspiring. The speakers were outstanding, including the first black captain of Chelsea FC, Paul Elliott, who explained his experience on this subject.

Why would you recommend us for an internship?

I would recommend RDC because you learn a lot. I would recommend it to those who are interested in how you can use sport to create social change, both nationally and internationally.
