Remembering Nelson Mandela

It´s the first Anniversary we celebrate without him with us, the legacy and the gigantic presence of this leader, who died aged 95 after a life devoted to the fight for human rights. The United Nations, recognises Nelson Mandela´s values and his devotion to the service of humanity in its 64/13 resolution, and in 2013 the 18th of July was proclaimed as Nelson Mandela´s International Day.
History has already made room for Mandela. Proof of it is the tribute that the world leaders paid him at his funeral at the Stadium Soccer City in Soweto, on the 10th of December 2013. A very symbolic Stadium as it was the former Orlando Stadium, where he gave his first big speech in front of a hundred thousand followers after being released from prison on the 11th of April 1990. And lets not forget the tears of the people who owe a lot to this true leader. Nelson Mandela is, without a doubt, a key character in the history of the 20th Century and we will not forget his magnificent figure, his noble presence, his smile and his determination on the fight for freedom. Furthermore, he was the key in a clear example of how sport can unite a society, at the 1995 Rugby World Championship of South Africa, portrayed in the film Invictus.
We, at Red Deporte, had the opportunity to work intensely with the rainbow nation, South Africa, between the years 2007 and 2010. We hope we can keep supporting the South African people in future years, so they can keep moving forward in the search for an harmonic coexistence sought by equals by Mandela. Our most sincere tribute to a giant of our times.
